Ukraine CRIMEA
Crimea is a beautiful part of Ukraine, with a variety of scenery including beaches, forests and limestone mountains. High season is in July & August. SEVASTOPOL is the largest city in Crimea and it's here you will find the Russian Black Sea Navy base. A lot of cruise lines stop in Sevastopol. You can get to Sevastopol by train from Kiev or fly to the City of SIMFEROPOL. All along the Crimea cost there are beaches with waterfront cafes with musicians playing - a nice way to relax and walk along the sea front. YALTA is a beautiful place, with memories from 19th century VIPs who came to cure their illnesses by the beautiful Black Sea. Today it's a tourist destination for many Ukrainians and Russians. It is in Yalta where the three Chief allied leaders held a meeting to discuss the final end to World War Two. It is here in Yalta you will get to see the amazing SWALLOWS NEST CASTLE. FEODOSIA is a city with many prominent people connected to it. The city-museum connects different epochs, pride of the National Art Gallery are works by the greatest marine painter Aivazovsky and the unique literary museum showing works of romantic writer Alexander Green. The Feodosian regional museum is one of the most ancient museums of Europe. Eternally young, Feodosia is also one of the most ancient cities of Europe, with a history which dates back 25 centuries. KERCH is situated on the Black Sea and Azov sea coast of Crimean peninsula about 200km east of Simferopol International Airport and about 280km east of Yalta. The population is about 160,000 inhabitants and is a big industrial port in Crimea and also a holiday resort, attracting tourists who wish to swim in both the Azov and Black Seas. Kerch is also one of the most ancient cities in Crimea. CHERNIGOV 141 kilometer North of Kiev is the beautiful and historical city of CHERNIGOV, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 5 out of 25 architectural historical landmarks have been persevered here. Chernigov is one of the greenest cities in the Ukraine, in spring and summer the golden domes of ancient churches shine high above the many parks. CATHEDRAL OF OUR SAVIOR One of the oldest Christian churches remaining in the Ukraine dating back to 1033. The cathedral has majestic architecture with 5 golden domes decorating the rooftops. BORIS and GLEBES was built around 1123. The architecture is a classic example of the Kiev Rus period. See the tomb of Chernigov Princess. SAINT CATHERINE CHURCH This church is an excellent example of the five chamber cross churches. The Church is located on a hill at the entrance to the city and was constructed in the 17th Century. CHERNIGOV MUSEUM OF HISTORY Historical collection of cultural items from the 17th – 19th Century, Jewelry, Coins, Weapons used during the War of liberation, Learn how people lived with house ware during the 17th Century. See a large collection of archaeological finds discovered during burial research. FRIDAY CHURCH Built in the 12th Century, an important architectural monument, The Church has a different decorative design than other churches in Chernigov with a square shape, After World War Two, Its original medieval design was reconstructed by the great Peter Baranovsky. BOLDIN'S HILL Enjoy the panoramic view of Chernigov, See the ancient cave of the ELETSKY MONASTERY, 11th Century, The monastery pre dates Kiev Pechersk Lavra Monastery. See the magnificent Cathedral 11th Century with 6 decorative pillars on the interior walls witness murals 750 years old. The Bell tower was erected in the 17th Century. Opposite the hill is a monument over the GRAVE OF THE UNKOWN SOLDIER which was erected after the war to celebrate the liberation of Chernigov UMAN PARK SOPHIA (Sofiyvka) One of the most magnificent parks in the world, over 200 years old UMAN SOPHIA Park has one of the richest collections of plants and tress from around the world. Once you visit this Park you will be captured by its beauty originality and artistic perfection of the landscape. The park resembles a picture gallery created by nature designed by man. It truly is a masterpiece of gardening and landscape Here you will see the Champs – Elysses Paris, English park with beautiful lakes, waterfalls and fountains. Throughout the park are thousands of beautiful flowers, planted artistically to create the perfect place to relax. Here nature is always majestic. It truly is a unique pearl amongst parks of the World. |
